Is Yoga a Waste of Time?

Are you just like my sister? No time for yoga. You find it too slow and a waste of time. You'd rather be lifting weights, walking with a friend or taking a spin class.

My sister has been watching me teach yoga for the last 20 years. She's listened to me tirelessly tell her how much she'd enjoy it and how good it is for her. She'd come to visit and take a class I was teaching but be anxious she wasn't in the gym instead.

In her mind, the only point of exercise is to burn calories and to lose weight. Otherwise, what was the point.

Fast forward to a global pandemic. She couldn't go to the gym, she was overwhelmed and scared. And she was isolated from everyone she knew.

With nothing else to do, she started taking my online zoom yoga classes.  It didn’t take long for her to realize what she had been missing all those years.

Imagine me, her little sister, with my thumbs in my ears chanting to her, my big sister, “I told you so!”

To this day, my sister takes yoga consistently several days a week.  She never misses.  She runs her own business, has grown children that still want her attention, and she still loves her spin class.

But now yoga is something she can’t live without.

Only by giving yoga a real chance was she been able to discover how much it could change her life.  It’s truly changed her overall wellbeing.  Her approach to life is different.  She’s more calm and more relaxed.  She’s more grateful and trusting.  She lives every day from a place of mindfulness.

She’s now recruiting all her friends to try yoga.  And doing her best to convey how much it’s meant to her.

Would you be willing to try yoga even with the slightest chance it could change your life, your outlook, your overall wellbeing?  We don’t want to have to say, “I told you so.”

Check out my sister now in her own yoga studio in her new home while live streaming one of my classes.
