Yoga to Open the Heart

Yoga can really help you to both open and also heal your heart. All it takes are some small movements in your upper body and you'll feel your heart soften.

The arms are an extension of the heart chakra. To connect with your heart, move your arms.

When you need some support in your heart - if you're grieving, if you're hurting, if you're feeling sad - these movements can really help open up your heart and create some energy in your upper body.

Start by creating some nice big shoulder rolls. Be sure to go in both directions.

Then expand this movement into some nice big arm circles. Again, make sure you go in both directions.

Another nice exercise to open that upper body and the heart begins with goal post arms. Bring the the arms together doing your best to connect the palms and also the elbows. Just do your best here. Then open your arms out wide feeling the chest expand and a gentle squeeze between your shoulder blades.

In addition to creating strength and flexibility in your shoulders, all of these movements really connect you and open you in your heart.

It just feels really good and it’s a great way to release physical and emotional tension in your body.
