Yoga gives us the opportunity to send love and healing out to others. It can happen in an instant with the intention of that love and healing. Here's my take on things.
I want to share with you my thoughts on sending love and healing to people in your life. This is a practice that we do at the end of every one of my yoga classes.
In this ritual of sending love and healing out to others, and yourself, you create the intention for that person, or groups of people, to receive it, to feel it, and to be better for it.
I’ve had students say to me, “But there’s not enough time for me to mentally run down the list of everyone that I want to receive this love and healing. What do I do?”
In that moment you think of that person, your heart feels that person, you have love for that person, it happens. They receive the love and the healing they need.
When someone in my life asks for prayers, or when I know someone in my life is struggling, I just need to think of that person. It's not necessary to make a specific dedicated time, to be on my knees at the end of night with my hands to my heart to say those prayers. There doesn’t need to be the fear that if you forget to fall at your bedside that love and healing energy isn't being sent out.
Sending love and healing can just happen in a moment with the intention of sending love for that person. The moment you are thinking about them, that you are holding space for them, that you wish for them their highest and best, it happens.
The communication that we have with spirit, with the universe, it's not limited by our language and that need to have a conversation with God. For me, in my opinion, just having that intention of sending that person love and healing, of giving them prayers and attention, is enough for them to receive it.
