What is "Chair Yoga?"

What do you think of when you hear the words “Chair Yoga?”

If the image of grey haired ladies in pants suits and sneakers sitting in chairs stretching their arms to the sky comes to mind you aren’t alone. But there is so much more to chair yoga. Yes, the chair does make yoga accessible to older adults, those with injuries or the disabled. But it also gives perfectly able bodied yogis a new experience in their practice. It can help you feel postures in your body in a new way. It can bring a better understanding of alignment and it can also create humility to a practice that we might be taking for granted.

If you’ve never tried Chair Yoga, here’s your opportunity. This video is a chair yoga practice of standing postures using the chair as a prop. You don't need to come to the floor at all. Yoga is a practice in awareness so remember to breath and make modifications wherever you need to.
