Breath Is My Superpower - Pranayama Practices & Principles

Workshop is being co-taught by both Buffy Pilloud and Krista Oakes

Explore breathing techniques through the lens of Yoga by understanding the basic essentials of pranayama.

Pranayama is an ancient method of Yogic breathing techniques that extend and expand the body’s vital life force energy—prana--through conscious manipulation of the breath. In yoga, prana is symbolized by the breath, a tool through which it can be controlled, manipulated and moved. Pranayama techniques can be used to connect body and mind, relieve stress, control mood, enhance immune system, increase energy, improve physical health and deepen meditation. A steady breath leads to a steady mind.

This workshop is perfect for both new and seasoned yogis because we will build a strong foundation upon which you can build an even stronger practice!

In this workshop you will:

• Review the respiratory system

• Experience Yogic Breathing (3-Part Breath/Dirga Breath)

• Understand how pranayama relates to the 8 Limbs of Yoga

• Explore the connection between the breath and the Chakra system

• Learn about and practice 4 specific breath techniques

• Experience a guided breath awareness meditation

• Add a new dimension of understanding to your physical practice of Yoga

This workshop is being co-taught with Buffy Pilloud, E-RYT, an Associate Professor of Yoga and Meditation at Valencia College in Orlando, FL. She is a seasoned Yoga Alliance-registered instructor of Hatha Yoga, Pre-Natal Yoga, Children’s Yoga, Yoga for Seniors and meditation, as well as a Tai Chi Easy and Medical Qigong Practice Leader.  Buffy’s mission is to help people find mind-body-spirit wellbeing using movement, breathwork and meditation and through natural methods that enhance health on all levels of being.

*This workshop is approved for 1.25 hours of continuing education credits for Yoga Alliance-registered instructors.

*Registrants will receive a handout and 30 days of access to a recording of the workshop. So even if you can’t attend live on the day of the workshop, you will still have access to all the information to view and study on your own.
