Noticing the Everyday Miracles: A Mindful Practice to Bring More Joy and Presence

Have you ever had a moment that made you pause and wonder, How did that just happen?

Not in a skeptical way—but in a way that leaves you wide-eyed and grateful?

Sometimes, life hands you what can only be described as a miracle. Not always in grand, cinematic ways—but in small, subtle moments that shift the course of your day, or even your life.

One of my students recently shared a powerful experience. He came to class with bright eyes and a big smile on his face telling me about an accident he was almost in. He was on his motorcycle when a car came just inches from hitting him. He went on to say, it actually did hit him but just brushed his bike only making contact with a decorative part of his bike. Just a few inches. Any little change in circumstance would have had him being spun around and thrown from his bike.

And you know what he said? “What a miracle!”

Instead of focusing on what almost happened, he saw it for what it was—a miracle. He wasn’t consumed by fear or the “what ifs.” Instead, he was filled with awe at what didn’t happen.

That shift in focus changes everything.

You probably haven’t had a near-death motorcycle experience lately—but you have had miracles. You may have simply overlooked them.

Maybe your walk on the beach today lifted your spirits in a way you didn’t expect. Maybe your aching hip felt just a bit better after your gentle yoga class. Maybe you ran into a friend at the farmer’s market and left feeling more connected. Or maybe you avoided a stressful situation without ever realizing it—taking one route instead of another, and missing a major traffic jam or an emotional encounter you didn’t need.

These are the everyday miracles that shape our lives.

And when you begin to notice them—not just the dramatic ones, but the quiet, ordinary ones—you also start to shift how you move through the world. You experience more joy, more peace, more ease. You stop waiting for life to feel “just right” and start feeling grateful that it already is.

This week, I invite you to notice the little miracles. Really name them.

The breeze that cools your skin after a walk in the Florida sun.
The sense of calm that comes during your meditation practice.
The way you feel lighter after connecting in group meditation or sharing a story in the Authentic Living Circle.

Even the small victories—like making time for your chair yoga class or choosing a nourishing meal instead of fast food.

The more you pay attention, the more these miracles seem to multiply.

And if you’re craving more moments like that—more presence, more meaning, more mindful living—you’re not alone. There’s a whole community here for you.
